Zero Tolerance Policy

Summary

The wellbeing of our staff is of utmost priority at Kyte IT. We have a duty of care to all employees to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive working environment.

The mental health of our staff is as important as their physical health.

As part of this commitment, we have implemented a zero-tolerance policy towards certain behaviours that pose risks to our employees or jeopardise our business operations or. This policy outlines the behaviours that will not be tolerated under any circumstances and the consequences for violating these standards.

 

Background

Occasionally, Kyte IT staff may be faced with clients or suppliers who are exhibiting difficult behaviours. This includes (but is not limited to) aggressive behaviour, inappropriate behaviour, disorderly behaviour due to being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or anything that could be deemed to deliberately make a member of staff feel uncomfortable.

Staff should not be left distressed following an interaction with a client or supplier.

 

Zero Tolerance Behaviours

Harassment and Discrimination:

Any form of harassment, discrimination, or retaliation based on race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to verbal, physical, or visual harassment, as well as inappropriate jokes, slurs, or gestures.

Violence and Threats:

Any act or threat of violence, including intimidation, physical or sexual assault, or verbal threats of harm or blackmail against employees or property, will not be tolerated. This includes the possession or use of weapons on company premises or during company-related activities.

Verbal abuse:

Any communication with our staff that includes aggressive tone or language, swearing or foul language, sexually abusive or inappropriate language, or language that distresses staff will not be tolerated.

Theft and Fraud:

Theft, fraud, or any other form of dishonesty or misrepresentation that compromises the company’s assets, finances, or reputation is strictly prohibited.

 

Consequences of violations

Kyte IT has the right to refuse service and take further action against anyone who threatens the safety of our staff or who has persistently acted inconsiderately or unreasonably.

Violation of this zero-tolerance policy may result in contract termination, legal action, and/or referral to the police, depending on the severity and circumstances of the offence. All reports of violations will be promptly and thoroughly investigated, and appropriate action will be taken.

Reporting violations:

Employees are encouraged to report any violations of this policy to their line manager or any other designated company authority immediately. Reports will be handled confidentially and without retaliation against the reporting party. All reports will be logged on company records.

 

Inconsiderate or unreasonable behaviour

Kyte IT also has the right to refuse service and take further action against anyone who is deemed to have exhibited inconsiderate or unreasonable behaviour that has caused a significant impact on employee wellbeing or business operations.

In cases where it is deemed that an incident is not serious enough to warrant immediate termination of services, Kyte IT will issue a first and final warning.

Inconsiderate or unreasonable behaviour includes, but is not limited to, examples such as:

  • Demanding to only speak to management staff or specific team members.
  • Persistent and/or unrealistic demands on our service.
  • Repeated derogatory comments about the business or staff either verbally, writing/digitally or on social media.
  • Contacting Kyte IT staff directly via social media or other personal communications (e.g. personal email, text message, WhatsApp etc.) instead of through official business channels.
  • Abusing alcohol or drugs on premises.
  • Wilful damage of company property.
  • Theft

 

Clients or suppliers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol

We expect all clients and suppliers to behave responsibly when dealing with Kyte IT in any capacity and format. Should it be suspected that a client or supplier is engaging with our staff whilst under the influence, Kyte IT has the right to refuse service either temporarily or permanently depending on the severity of disruption caused.

We will always act professionally and fairly and in the best interests of both our staff and the client or supplier in question.

Inappropriate behaviour whilst under the influence of drugs or alcohol includes, but is not limited to:

  • Any of the behaviours listed earlier in this policy including any form of verbal, physical or discriminative abuse or threatening behaviour.
  • Incomprehensible communication including verbal slurring and undiscernible language.
  • Long periods of little to no engagement causing significant delays to service.

In cases where employees are made to feel uncomfortable or are unable to assist a client or supplier who is suspected to be under the influence, Kyte IT employees have the right to terminate communication immediately.

All instances of inappropriate behaviour will be logged on company records.

Violations of this policy will not be tolerated, and we expect the full cooperation of all employees in upholding these standards.
